This building has a total of 57 residences spread out over 29 stories. With a limestone facade and gracious interiors, the building evokes a style that was inspired by French Modernism.

History

CBSK Ironstate is the developer behind 301 East 50. For the building’s design, CBSK teamed up with COOKFOX. With a portfolio that also includes 150 Charles, One Bryant Park, 130 West 12th Street and 300 Lafayette, this architectural firm is driven by creating eco-minded spaces for to live in. Construction on this project is expected to be complete by 2015.

Architecture

 
The tagline for the architecture of 301 East 50 is “style with substance: a legacy of French moderne design.” It strikes a balance between timeless and contemporary. When you look at its distinctive style, you can see the influence of French modernists like Constantin Brancusi, Charlotte Perriand and Eileen Gray.
Highlights of the building’s exterior include corner windows and pale Indiana limestone. The corner windows maximize natural light throughout resident’s living spaces, while the limestone both looks great and helps make the building energy efficient.

Some of the notable features of the residences in 301 East 50 include 5-inch oak plank floors, lacquered doors with Omnia hardware, multi-zone heating and cooling, and energy efficient lights and appliances.
 

 
In the kitchen, a marble backsplash and Caesarstone countertops both make a big statement. These elements are complemented by Gaggenau appliances and Italian kitchen cabinetry. There’s also a Thermador microwave drawer and Dornbracht faucet that can provide instant hot water.
 

 
301 East 50 has done an excellent job of creating a very relaxing space in the master bathroom. Clad in marble, this space has Bianco Dolomiti vanities, Waterworks fixtures and custom-designed light fixtures. This creates exactly the type of space where you want to be after a long day at work.

Residents can work out in a fitness center with double height ceilings. Afterwards, they can head to the 301 Club level, which has a cedar sauna, tea lounge and aromatic steam room.
