60 East 86th Street Condo

60 East 86 Street

With just 15 full-floor condos, 60 East 86th Street is ideal for people who want a more private living experience than many New York buildings provides. Not only is the building gorgeous and offers a lot for residents to love, but it’s hard to beat its location. Situated right off Madison Avenue, residents only have to walk a single block to get to Central Park.

History

In April of 2013, Glenwood Management bought two adjacent properties for a total of $31 million. While plans for the two properties weren’t immediately available, it was later announced that 15 full-floor condos would be built in a single building that would stand 19 stories tall. To bring this project to fruition, Glenwood enlisted the expertise of Thomas Juul-Hansen, the Stephen P. Jacobs Group, Corcoran Sunshine Marketing Group, and Brdar.

60 East 86th Street Architecture

Thomas Juul-Hansen is the architect behind the design of 60 East 86th Street. He has clad this 19 story tower in a fluted Renaissance grey limestone façade. The building’s facade is accented by Juliet balconies, as well as oversized casement windows.

Because Juul-Hansen is known for his love of light and Scandinavian aesthetic, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the interior is based around open spaces and grand proportions. Notable traits of the interior also include rich natural materials, highly crafted finishes, and a pure color palette.

Residences

Upon entering 60 East 86th Street, residents and guests are surrounded by a lobby that’s designed to create a sense of quiet luxury. The entry area of the building also features a library with a hand-crafted bronze screen and wood bookcases.

“The perfect modern interpretation of a classic three-level home” is the phrase that’s been used to describe the townhouses in this building. Upon entering, you’re greeted with ceilings that are nearly 20 feet tall. Combined with large windows, this creates an incredible sense of loftiness.

For the units on the third to ninth floors, ceilings that are almost 10 feet tall are complemented by spaces that are fluid and inviting.

Once you enter the kitchen, you’ll be in a space that meets the demands of a master chef. A white marble slab is beautifully utilized, as well as custom lacquered cabinetry.

Then in the master bathroom, slabs of driftwood and marble are used together to create a space that’s truly an oasis for relaxing.
