This Monday, New York Magazine is holding it’s annual New York Taste event. This year it is being held in the Waterfront Building.

New York Taste is a total New York food experience, with New York Magazine’s culinary editor Gillian Duffy personally finding and inviting different chefs and mixologists from around the city to participate. Part foodie event and part charity opportunity, part of the proceeds go to City Harvest, which helps to feed the city’s hungry population.

The event has been held since 1998, with fine dining and street food mingling with comfort food and ethnic finds. This year there are more than 40 restaurants, chefs, and mixologists serving up everything from sushi to the deli to BBQ to vegetarian options, plus desserts and cocktails.
Hitting up the event, you will get the chance to enjoy the flavor of all New York has to offer, with restaurants from all the different neighborhoods participating.
Held in the historic Waterfront Building at 269 Eleventh Avenue (between West 27th and 28th Streets) New York, NY 10001, the venue itself is a sight to see. Built-in 1891, the Waterfront Building was amongst the most ambitious structures of its time. Constructed in the style of a medieval fortress, it was a massive hub of commerce.
Composed of seven warehouses, the original building had dual rail lines running through the central corridor, connecting the docks to 11th Avenue and being the only facility in the city with the direct river, road, and rail access. The building has been thoroughly renovated since being built 122 years ago and now hosts significant events, including the annual New York Taste, now celebrating 15 years.

Not far away from The Waterfront Building is the much talked about Master Plan community, Hudson Yards. The most extensive real estate development in America, Hudson Yards seeks to transform the city. With 26 acres to develop, half of the space will become open spaces and parks with the rest transforming into a model mixed-use community.
Developed by Related Companies and Oxford Properties, Hudson Yards brings together top architectural firms Kohn Pederson Fox (KFP) with unused city space to create an upcoming New York City destination.
Ultimately, the Hudson Yards master plan is set to include a new subway station for convenient transportation as well as shopping, dining, entertainment, luxury living accommodations, and cultural facilities in what is set to become the city’s most livable neighborhood.
The “nation’s biggest megaproject” is set to be the pinnacle of Related Companies’ 72-year-old chairman Stephen Ross career and Ross even promises to include a sculpture that “will be to this city what the Eiffel Tower is to Paris.”
Construction on The Hudson Yards began in fall 2012, and the two-phase development will take years to complete. The first phase is the Eastern Rail Yard, the area from 10th to 11th Avenue between West 30th and West 33rd streets. The second phase is the Western Rail Yard, the area from 11th to 12th Avenue between West 30th and West 33rd streets.
