It’s not often you get to walk all over your favorite artwork – unless of course you’re spider man, and can climb up walls. In most homes, floors are flourished with little more than a monochromatic mat or two. However, there’s no longer any excuse for boring beige or predicable prissy patterned carpet – with Yvonne Force Villareal and her pal Doreen Remen creating a line of artist-designed rugs, you’re sure to get a whole lot of living room love. The duo’s project, named Works on Whatever (WOW), is a nonprofit Art Production Fund that has commissioned more than a dozen artists – some emerging (Richard Bas, Dana Schutz), others well-known (Richard Philips) – to create limited edition area rugs, carpet tapestries and wall-to-wall carpets. And don’t worry about spilling your cosmopolitan cocktail – these carpets are stain resistant.
