History
Ralph Walker Tribeca has the distinction of being the building that set the standard for the Art Deco Movement in both New York and the rest of the world. What’s especially interesting about the design of this building is its beauty was inspired in part by the need for the structure to comply with zoning laws and have enough space to store all of the New York Telephone Exchange’s machinery.
Architecture
This building has the distinction of not only being designed by the man who was called the “Architect of the Century,” but also being considered the crown jewel in his portfolio. When Ralph Walker introduced this building to the world, it was officially the first skyscraper built in New York after the first World War.

As a symbol of optimism and progress, the building has stood the test of time for over eight decades. Setting out with the goal of making architecture more entertaining and less impersonal, Walker succeed by designing a space that’s just as grand on the inside as it is iconic on the outside.
