Super-Model Apartments in New York City

Giselle Bunchden1

It turns out that supermodels are more than just a rocking body and a pretty face. Beyond those sparkling eyes and high cheekbones is a business-savvy brain, which explains why plenty of supermodels are buying and selling New York City real estate. As a result, supermodel apartments provide not only a place to rest weary bones during Fashion Week but a big boost to their portfolios. Here’s a look at where some of the world’s top models are living in The City:

Miranda Kerr

At the beginning of the year, Victoria’s Secret model Miranda Kerr put her Manhattan bachelorette pad on the market amongst rumors of a split from husband Orlando Bloom. The one-bedroom apartment was offered for $1.3 million as the Aussie supermodel said she wanted a more prominent place for her growing family. Located in The Jade building in New York’s Flatiron district, designed by and named after Jade Jagger and in a neighborhood renowned for great shopping, Kerr had first purchased the apartment in 2006 for $1,084,436. She also bought a smaller apartment to be used for her son’s nanny.

The apartment is 904 square feet and located on the 10th floor of the building. To make the small space bigger, the condo has 2 Juliet balconies utilized white paint on all surfaces and features a bedroom large enough for a king-sized bed as well as a black “pod” space containing a kitchen fitted with modern Miele appliances, a Sub-Zero fridge, and a beautiful bath with glass mosaic tiles with two shower heads with a glass wall facing the living room. However, it looks like Kerr has changed her mind about selling since her split became official from Bloom, as she recently showed off her place in The Coveteur.

Adriana Lima

Another Victoria’s Secret Angel, Adriana Lima, put her Central Park Condo up for sale for $5.5 million. Lima originally purchased the property in 2003 for $1.995 million after landing a contract with Maybelline. Although located in prestigious Midtown Manhattan, the listing is considered high priced. Still, the building features a doorman complete with white gloves, a concierge, and an exclusive restaurant and dining terrace, as well as a renovated fitness center and pool. Mirrors and large windows make the spacious two bedrooms, 2.5 bath 2,000 square foot condo seem even bigger and brighter. The apartment has a double-sized Master bedroom with large custom-built closets, and the ensuite bath includes a soaking tub and spa-like shower. A Creston system controls the lights, music, temperature, and shades. The state-of-the-art kitchen features all top-of-the-line stainless steel appliances and custom cabinetry. There is also a media room off the main living area for cozy relaxation.

Giselle Bundchen

Giselle Bundchen and Tom Brady recently bought a $14 million condo. Located in the Flatiron district, the power couple sprung for the model apartment, which takes up a full private floor of the recently renovated One Madison building. The three-bedroom condo was decorated by Danish interior designer Thomas Juul-Hansen. The grand condo features solid quarter-sawn white oak plank floors and spacious his and her closets, dual vanities in the bathroom, and a huge modern tub with floor-to-ceiling windows offering views of the city in the bathroom and living room and a large dining room, perfect for entertaining. The building has a state-of-the-art gym and swimming pool, and a screening room and is close to the parks, which is essential for the couple and their kids. Before this purchase, the couple owned separate residences in the city: Brady sold his condo for $17.5million, and Bunchden sold her triplex for $4.4million.

Karlie Kloss

Last year, It Girl Karlie Kloss moved into the West Village, buying a Co-op for $1.97 million. Located on Charles Street, the posh place has two bedrooms and two bathrooms in a renovated multi-level townhouse with 12-foot ceilings, an eat-in kitchen with marble countertops, a French door refrigerator, and a master bedroom with 20 feet of custom closets and a glass tiled master bathroom. The Victoria’s Secret Angel’s home also has a private front garden and sunken living room. Model Jessica Stam has been upgrading her NYC living quarters since she first sold her co-op on East 16th Street for $510,000 in August 2004. After that, she went for an $800,000 condo four blocks down. After selling that one bedroom with 12-foot ceilings and a Whirlpool tub for $935,000, she moved into her current residence, a  $1.4 million, the 1,175-square-foot loft at the Petersfield building on Fourth Avenue. Since then, Stam has remodeled several times. Each new and improved version of the home has been featured in high-end magazines, include Elle Décor and Vogue.

Irina Shayk

If you’d like to live next door to Sports Illustrated supermodel Irina Shayk, in a ground floor maisonette duplex, one has hit the market earlier this year, with an asking price of $3.3 million. Shayk purchased her apartment at the prestigious 166 Perry St. back in 2010 for $1.9 million. The one-bedroom condo available has been called amongst the most modern dwellings in the city and comes with a Yamaha drum set in a basement soundproof music room—the second bedroom. The unit is larger than the others in the building and includes 2,500-square-feet with Corian kitchen and bathrooms and 12-foot ceilings. Other celebrity residents that live nearby at  176 Perry Street have included (both past and present) Hugh Jackman, Robert De Niro, Julianne Moore, artist Julian Schnabel, Amy Poehler, Calvin Klein, and Daniel Radcliffe.
